Today I was back in work, only to have tomorrow off again! Hooray! We got takeaway for tea which was nice and have decided to go to Walton Gardens to take some photos tomorrow before the boy has to go to work. Here's to hoping the weather is a bit better than todays!

Today we went and had breakfast at a cafe in Latchford village and then went over to the amazing cake shop to sample their cake! We had swirly, colourful cupcakes that were so tasty!

Song Of The Day: Fiona Apple - Never Is A Promise
Reason: One of my favourite ever songs, so beautiful.

Highlight Of The Day: Watching the cross country event at the Olympics (see previous post!)

Equestrians At The Olympics

Today I have been watching the cross country event at the Olympics. It's been really fantastic and we're still only about half way through! The 3 British riders that have already gone have done amazingly and have done the country proud. Zara Phillips and Mary King have been my sporting idols for a long time, but it's been great to see such a lot of top riders doing so well. Sadly there have been a fair few falls, so hopefully horses and riders are all ok. I'm not usually a follower of any other kind of sporting event and I don't really follow equestrian sports as much as I should, but it's an amazing feeling to sit on the edge of your seat, praying to god that your riders get home safely and within the time. I actually feel like I've had the most stressful afternoon and have probably been acting like the boy does when he swears, yells and jumps up and down when the football is on. Ok, maybe not that bad! I've found the event to be really inspiring and I'm so disappointed that I couldn't be there myself. Go Team GB!

Photo Every Day #211

Today has been a strange day. Mostly because I was in work, which is unusual on a Sunday for me, so it's felt like a weekday all day! It will probably be strange when I'm off work tomorrow and back in on Tuesday too! I bought a couple more new bits today, including these creepers! They're not Underground ones sadly, but a cheap replica will do nicely for now!

Jeepers, Creepers. Better Watch Those Creepers:
Jeepers, Creepers, Better Watch Those Creepers

Song Of The Day: Slipknot - My Plague
Reason: Still one of my favourite Slipknot songs ever.

Highlight Of The Day: Bit of shopping by myself after work.

Photo Every Day #210

Today I went to Manchester shopping! I had a really nice day and the weather wasn't too bad. I didn't take my Mini Diana in the end as I thought it might end up raining. I bought a few things, mostly for the boy. Most importantly, I picked up my Sahara Diana F+ and Oktomat Cameras for my birthday! So excited! We also had a really nice lunch in San Carlo Cicchetti in the House Of Fraser. It was really nice but tiny portions, even for tapas!

Panfried:

Song Of The Day: Boy Meets World Theme Tune
Reason: The later version, it has been stuck in my head since I started watching it when I came home from shopping!

Highlight Of The Day: Getting my cameras!!

Tomorrow I'm going shopping in Manchester with my Mum for my birthday presents!!! Yay!! I think I will have to severely hold myself back when we go into Thunder Egg and the Lomography Store! I'm going to take my Mini Diana out too, see if I can get any interesting shots whilst the weather's still nice!

Tiger:
Slowly slowly catch a tiger

Song Of The Day: Lana Del Rey - Lolyta
Reason: Awesome song, reminds me of A Nightmare Before Christmas in a way!

Highlight Of The Day: Nice end of the day in work with two of my good friends

Today I have literally been exhausted. I struggled to wake up properly, even though I was in work later than usual, I had to have nap as soon as I got in from work and now it's not even 10.30pm and I'm just about ready for bed. I've got a whole list of stuff I want to get done, but none of it has even been thought about this evening. I can't wait for my week off so that I can catch up on my jobs and relax!

Fajita Time:

Song Of The Day: Avril Lavigne - Losing Grip
Reason: Just popped into my head and had the urge to listen to it on repeat on the way home!

Highlight Of The Day: A nice bacon sandwich for breakfast

Photo Every Day #207

Today has been a super long, slow, boring and dull day. I have no idea why, but it did seem to be the general tone for the day for most of the people I spoke to! I'm making good progress on finding a photography course, so hopefully will have some news about that soon! I also have another film job lined up for the end of August, so watch this space for more details too.

Hello, Klaus!:
Light & Exposure Tests (21)

Song Of The Day: Young Guns - Bones
Reason: Really catchy!

Hightlight Of The Day: Finally getting in my bed.

Today I felt like having a bit of a play with my Canon as I feel that I've been severely neglecting it recently. Whilst we were filming Boom In Shot, one of the guys who worked at Antwerp Mansion wanted us all to pose for a photo. This was a more than reasonable request but there was a twist! We had to all stand perfectly still in the dark whilst he went round and 'painted' us with a torch. The photo was really good, we were all frozen in the photo. So I decided to copy and have a go myself. I've never really done anything with a long exposure time before but it was good fun. I first of all decided to set my vintage film cameras up to try and mimic us standing in our positions on set.

This is the first photo. I used a green torch, hence the green streaks, but I think I lit them for too long and my picture was also out of focus!:

Photo Every Day #205

Today has ended with a super stressful evening. When I got the rats out for their usual evening play time on the sofa, they managed to knock off the blanket they run about under off and onto the floor with themselves still inside! I didn't see it happen as I was playing with Jacques who was still in the cage. Luckily, both rats had just run under the sofa and I managed to get Quigley out after about 5 minutes. However, Klaus seemed to like his new hiding place and it took me a staggering 2 hours to get him back into his cage! So, I've spent me evening sat on the floor, shifting furniture, lying on the floor to see under the sofa and running back and to to the fridge to get treats. As a result I have a stiff back, numb bum and mild carpet burn on my really sore sunburnt shoulder. Rats! Who'd have em!

In other news, we have added a large round coffee table in brown-black to our front room as well as a large plant with nice white flowers on it. They definately make it seem less like a student house and more like a proper home. I'm still convinced that it's colourless walls and bland carpet stop it from looking like someone really lives there.

Coffee?:
Coffee

Song Of The Day: Grendel - Soilbleed (V3)
Reason: I still vividly remember hearing this song when seeing Grendel at Eddies in Birmingham. It was the most boring drive there and back (literally in a straight line) but well worth it!

Highlight Of The Day: Klaus finally climbing into the dressing gown to be taken to his cage after several changes of mind!

Photo Every Day #204

Today has been an excellent day off. We started the day with a nice lie in. We then set off to Beeston Castle to take some photos with my analogue cameras. It was hot walking up the hill to the castle, but the breeze and the view from the top was well worth it. We decided to try and make the most of the day, so we went to Cotebrook Shire Horse Center which was great! Their shire stallions were gorgeous and makes me love heavy horses even more. We got some nice photos and it was nice to watch the horses in their fields. We also got to see some newborn piglets which had only been born at 2am that morning! They were gorgeous and tiny, nudging around the hay with their eyes still closed. After we'd finished at the center we called at the pub next door for some food. I had a lovely beef and onion baguette which was cooked perfectly. Yummy. We then called at Blakemere Craft Center on the way back. They had a country fair on which was really nice to walk around. I got to hold a tiny baby chick which tried to escape and fly off, but luckily I caught him in time! We also got to meet Susie the rescue greyhound from the Greyhound Rescue West Of England who was looking for a new home. She was gorgeous and friendly, and I can see why my Gran likes them so much. I really hope she finds a nice home. The weather was glorious all day and as a result I've got a badly sunburnt arm! Our final stop was my Dads where he cooked us homemade calzone for tea which was very nice. We've definately made the most of the good weather and our day off, so hopefully we'll get some really good photos!

Today I had the nicest takeaway with my Mum and Step-Dad. It was Thai food from The Chilli Club in Lymm, one of my favourite restaurants ever! Nom nom! We also decided that we'll be going on a photography mission tomorrow with the Praktica, Mini Diana and the Lomo Fish Eye, possibly the Canon 550D as well, just so the whole family is coming along. I was thinking of going to Beeston Castle if the weather is nice, but I have no back up plan if it's not! So fingers crossed.

Praktical:

Song Of The Day: Lana Del Rey - Dark Paradise
Reason: I just adore her and her retro style! I can really relate to some of the lyrics in this song though.

Highlight Of The Day: Seeing my Pixie!

Photo Every Day #202

Today I have been trying to find a photography course so that I can properly learn some skills to make it more than just a hobby. I don't want to go to college full time and I can't afford another degree or masters, so I'm currently between a rock and a hard place as there doesn't seem to be any suitable courses running at the moment. I have found a distance online learning course that looks really good, but would just prefer something with some contact time as well. I'll carry on looking however, as I'm really missing being in a learning environment.

Play Ball:

Song Of The Day: Grendel - Hate This
Reason: Horrible people I've come across today can 'suck on this'!

Highlight Of The Day: Being offered a potential film job! More info soon!

Today I was back to work as usual and then my Dad came round for tea. I cooked sweet and soy chicken with noodles, sugarsnap peas and peppers. It was really nice and I will definately make it again! Our coat hook in our cupboard has finally been fixed now too so we can stop dumping all the coats on the bed!

Today is my 200th PED blog! And I've got my prints back from the Diana F+ workshop the other weekend. I loved the Diana so much I'm tempted to get it over a Lomo LC-A+. Gah! Decisions! The workshop was great and I can't wait for the next one! So here are our best shots from the day!

Today I have been wating a nice big bunch of grapes. I think they're my favourite fruit as they're so tasty and easy to eat. I love fruit because generally you can just eat it completely raw, as nature intended it. I think the problem with a lot of vegetables is that as soon as it's cooked even slightly it starts to lose it's flavour and becomes too soft and pulpy for my liking. However, peas are one of my favourites, both cooked and raw. I always used to have cut up raw carrots with my tea when I was a child and never liked baked beans or anything similar, so I assume this is where my love of fresh, raw fruit and veg has come from.

Song Of The Day: Katy Perry - Wide Awake
Reason: I can really relate and it's not done in a cheesy manner.

Today was the last day of the filming of Sophie's Fortune. I had a good time and the weather was lovely again. The children have been great all weekend and were a pleasure to be around. I'm not exhausted and back to work tomorrow sadly. It's definately inspired me to make sure I find motivated, hard working people to work with again in the future as it's amazing to be in a creative enviroment.

Photo Every Day #196

Just a quick one today as it's been a super long day and I need to get to sleep! I've been a runner again on the set of Sophie's Fortune. The weather held out all day which was a good start. They were filming a birthday party scene with around twenty five 6-9 year olds! I was supervising the snacks and drinks table, handing out whatever the kids wanted in rationed portions and filling them with sugar. They were surprisingly well behaved, especially after all the excitement and E numbers.
This is a sneek peak of some of the action on set.

Sophie's Fortune:

Song Of The Day: Marina & The Diamonds - I Am Not A Robot

Photo Every Day #194

Today I went for a lovely Nandos with a good friend. I've not been in ages so it was good to be back! The rats new toys also turned up today, I've put the double hammock in and their new pink shelf. I wonder if they know having a pink shelf makes them look a bit camp? Ah well, I guess their massive testicles make up for that! They've also been having a go on their lid board. A board with lids covering holes containing treats that they have to remove to get the yummy snacks inside.

Trio:
Trio

Song Of The Day: Skrillex - Bangarang
Reason: I didn't realise it was based on the story Peter Pan, I thought it might be in reference to the 80s film The Lost Boys. Great song!

Highlight Of The Day: Taking cute photos of the ratties and splicing them into a cute collage!

Photo Every Day #193

Today I've been messing around with the new packs I bought for Hipstamatic. Really loving the new films and lenses and having fun figuring out good combinations. I've decided next month to subscribe to the lomography film subscription service where they send you random and rare films. I feel this will encourage me to shoot on a regular basis and to be a lot more experiemental. So today, here is my moody self portrait taken using the Lucifer VI lens, BlacKeys B+W film and no flash.

Song Of The Day: Marina & The Diamonds - Power & Control
Reason: Heard this for the first time today and instantly loved it! The video is lovely too, exactly what I'd like to shoot in the near future.

Yesterday I stretched my 3rd ear piercing on my right earlobe. Only from 1.2mm to 1.6mm but it's a start! I think I just want to get it big enough to put a tiny spiral in it, as I don't want to deform my ears too much! Especially since my earlobes were tiny before I stretched the first 2 sets of piercings. I'd forgotten what that warm, burning sensation was like when it first squeezes through. However, it's still a bit sore today, so I'm hoping I've not been too rough with it by accident. I've not had a new piercing for far too long! I still quite want my nose done and really, really, really miss my wrist piercing. Although, I did want to let it heal a bit more before getting it done again. Decisions, decisions!

This evening we went for a nice home cooked meal at my friend's new house. It's a really good space and they've decorated it really nicely. The rats have had a treat tonight; giant mealworms wrapped in a paper bag. I can hear them chomping away trying to get in the wrapper. They've only had average sized mealworms, so here's hoping they eat them all and they don't manage to escape!

Highlight Of The Day: A short trip to the pet shop!

Photo Every Day #189

Today has been a busy day. First off we went to the Science and Industry museum in Manchester. Unfortunately, it was rather dull. The exhibits and the layout were just terrible! After our disappointing time at the museum, we went to the Darling Diana F+ workshop at the Lomography store in the Northern Quarter. It was really good, the guy explained everything really thoroughly and then we spent about an hour taking photos whilst wondering around Manchester. We should be getting the photos back in around 10 days so that's exciting! I definately want a Diana F+ now!! We then went to the cheese and wine evening at the Walled Garden, it's always nice going there and seeing family too. I can't wait for the hog roast next month!! The PED is of a big carp that was swimming right next to the edge of one of the ponds at the gardens.

Today was Friday, so that means it's the weekend tomorrow! We're off to Manchester to the Lomography store for their Diana F+ workshop which means we can borrow a camera and get a roll of film to play with! I'm really excited to see what the big version is like compared to my Mini Diana. We're also helping my Grandad out at the cheese and wine evening at the Walled Garden, so hopefully the weather won't be too bad.

Today's PED is of my beloved gecko, Carcass. I haven't posted a gecko picture for ages so here we are! I remember when I first got them and they were so tiny and cute! Today has been one of those long slow days. I'm currently loving 'Gordon Behind Bars' on Channel 4. I think prisoners should be working and giving back to the community and the government. I think learning new skills can completely change someone's outlook on life and give them new direction, whether they be prisoners or the average Joe. Here's hoping that he succeeds as the series progresses!

Song Of The Day: Noel Fielding - Luxury Comedy Theme
