Photo Every Day #81

Today it was the annual quiz night to raise money for the Grappenhall Heys Walled Garden. They're restoring the old Victorian greenhouses and have some lottery funding for it, but every penny helps as restoration costs a fortune! We did pretty well in the quiz but didn't win anything sadly! Maybe next year.

Song Of The Day: Twinkle - Candy (cover of the Robbie Williams song)
Reason: Great singing duo!

Highlight Of The Day: A nice lunch in a local cafe.

Inspiration Of The Day: The creeping baby doll. Strange looking but would make a great prop in a horror film!

Photo Every Day #281

Today I decided to strip my hair so that I can dye it red properly. In fairness the colour stripper has taken off a fair amount of the black dye, especially on my roots which have gone back to their original (dark blonde) colour pretty much. I'd love to go back blonde for a bit but can't really see it happening. I'll post a picture when it's settled a little bit tomorrow. But for today, I will treat you with another photo of the stunning Asami.

Song Of The Day: Poe - Hey Pretty
Reason: Song that suits Asami!

Photo Every Day #267

Today we took my friend from work and her little daughter to the Walled Garden, along with the boy's sister and her boyfriend.  It was a really nice day, firstly having a cake and coffee then walking round taking photos. After we'd finished my friend's little girl came to our house with us to visit the rats and the geckos. She loved all of them, but in particular 'Caramel' the gecko. I thought I'd say her name was Caramel rather than Carcass as I didn't fancy explaining to a child what a carcass actually was! Afer she'd gone home, I helped the boy's sister and her boyfriend to do their CVs and we had KFC for tea! Overall it was a really nice day but very tiring!

Song Of The Day: No Doubt - Sunday Morning

Another lame quick post cos I'm dying for sleep! Today my parents came back so no more full time looking after of Pixie until next year for me. I did take her to the Walled Garden for her usual Sunday cake to finish our week together off nicely. I also wen to Ikea with my Dad to get our new tv stand, sadly the tv that I was given was a bit rubbish, a lot worse than our current tv so the new stand is currently waiting in the bedroom until we get a new tv set. I begrudge having to pay a lot just for a tv as there's better things that I want to spend money on first! My Dad had also been making some cakes which were very nice.

Song Of The Day: Bowling For Soup - Punk Rock 101
Reason: I've been listening to pop-punk for most of today as it's been a fairly nice day

Highlight Of The Day: Seeing how happy Pixie was to see my parents back from their holidays.

Photo Every Day #239

Today was a nice day and I spent the early afternoon at the Walled Garden with Pixie. We saw a young heron stood in the middle of one of the ponds for ages, but sadly I hadn't brought my camera so could only take a rubbish iPhone one! As a result of missing a photo opportunity, I spent the rest of the afternoon playing with my Canon 550D and my Diana lenses which consist of; telephoto, fisheye, macro, super wide and wide angle lenses. I love the fact that I can use the lenses with my Canon as I feel like I can practice a bit more with them first, before I start wasting film by not using them correctly! I was just in my Mum's garden, but I think I've got some decent photos, I'll upload some after some minor editing.

Song Of The Day: Jay Z & Kanye West - No Church In The Wild
Reason: I love the chorus; "Human being to the mob. What's the Mob to a King. What's a King to a God. What's a God to a non-believer, who don't believe in anything".  Writing that makes you think.

Highlight Of The Day: Getting some decent photos from my new lenses.

Photo Every Day #225

Today we looked after Pixie whilst my parents went out. We took her to the Walled Garden, a Sunday tradition, to see the birds of prey that they had there for the day. I was also showing my Grandad my Spinner 360 camera and we took some photos in the gardens. In the evening we went to a family do as one of my uncles in emigrating to America. It was suprisingly decent and nice to talk to family members I barely know. The boy starts his new job tomorrow and is off to the Lake District for a few days for some training, so will be strange having the flat totally to myself! I doubt I'll do anything to make the most of it, just watch crime documentaries all night as usual!

Song Of The Day: Uberbyte - When Something Gets Hard (Fuck It)
Reason: Just such a clever song title, even if you don't like the song!

Highlight Of The Day: Seeing family!

Photo Every Day #217

Today was the Hog Roast at the Walled Garden. I've never been to one before and it was very tasty! The meat was a bit tougher than I expected but I washed it down with a nice piece of fudge cake so it's all good! Tomorrow is the day that my family and a couple of friends are all coming over for a bit of a party for my birthday. I've been super stressed out about making sure there's enough food and there's things that people will enjoy so fingers crossed it all goes well!

Photo Every Day #189

Today has been a busy day. First off we went to the Science and Industry museum in Manchester. Unfortunately, it was rather dull. The exhibits and the layout were just terrible! After our disappointing time at the museum, we went to the Darling Diana F+ workshop at the Lomography store in the Northern Quarter. It was really good, the guy explained everything really thoroughly and then we spent about an hour taking photos whilst wondering around Manchester. We should be getting the photos back in around 10 days so that's exciting! I definately want a Diana F+ now!! We then went to the cheese and wine evening at the Walled Garden, it's always nice going there and seeing family too. I can't wait for the hog roast next month!! The PED is of a big carp that was swimming right next to the edge of one of the ponds at the gardens.

Photo Every Day #188

Today was Friday, so that means it's the weekend tomorrow! We're off to Manchester to the Lomography store for their Diana F+ workshop which means we can borrow a camera and get a roll of film to play with! I'm really excited to see what the big version is like compared to my Mini Diana. We're also helping my Grandad out at the cheese and wine evening at the Walled Garden, so hopefully the weather won't be too bad.

Brotherly Love:

Song Of The Day: Paloma Faith - Sexy Chick
Reason: A cover from the radio 1 live lounge and sounds nothing like the original! In a good way.

Highlight Of The Day: Seeing my boys spooning each other whilst asleep!

Photo Every Day #169

Today we went to the Fun Day at the Walled Garden. We'd actually forgotten it was on and had just gone for cakes, so it was a nice surprise. They had little stalls with old games like a coconut shy, hoopla, roll a penny and my Grandad was the man who you had to throw wet sponges at! The weather was nice and as usual the cake was good! I would really recommend going, it's free to go in and walk round, they have loads of decent events on all year round and always have super nice cakes on Sundays!

Song Of The Day: Katy Perry - ET
Reason: Really love this song, plus we watched Alien today, so bit of a theme going on.

Highlight Of The Day: Being at the Walled Garden with the boy, Pixie, my grandparents and my aunty.

Photo Every Day #141

Today has been a really good day. We went for a walk with Pixie and my parents through a little area of woodland. We saw about 12 heron's nests with baby herons in! So cute! They were really high up in some pine trees so we couldn't see them properly but could see them flapping their wings and the parents bringing them food. We also went to the Walled Garden and did some pond dipping. It was mostly children, but I got quite competative when I caught the first fish, a stickleback, on my first dip! We caught a few more fish and loads of tadpoles. We also bought some more of their homemade apple juice which is delicious. We then went to Nandos for tea with the boy's family for his and his sister's birthdays next week.

Photo Every Day #72

Today we opened the apple juice we'd got from the Grappenhall Heys walled garden. My grandad is the chairman so we go regularly to support him, but also because their cakes are really nice and super cheap! (two pieces of cake and two cans of coke for £3?!) They grow their own fruit and veg and sell it at the weekends, so we bought some of their own homemade apple juice. It's soooo nice, a lot more appley than supermarket bought juice. Yummy.

Song Of The Day: Lesley Roy - Crushed
Reason: So soulful and heartfelt
