This evening we went to a friends house with my 3 best friends and their other halves to have a gaming night!! We played Guitar Hero which I've never played before and is hard to get the hang of! I think I managed to get a few points in the end though. We also played Buzz and Crash Team Racing as well. It's amazing how I can still remember the turns and course layouts for such a lot of the game! I'm definately a lover of the Playstation 2 games that I used to play and can't really get into these new fangled all-singing-all-dancing consoles and their games that I don't know how to play. I think I'll stick to my favourite games where I know all the characters, the story and how to complete it!

Today we had friends over, it was nice to just be hanging round the flat doing nothing in particular. I also got Rollercoaster Tycoon 3! It's awesome, I forgot how much I used to love it. Sadly, I didn't save my game and my computer crashed. Boo!

This evening we have been trying to make the most of it after recieving some bad news. We had KFC for tea with our friend, then the 3 of us played Scene It, which is a movie quiz game for the Xbox. I won as I was the first to 50,000 points in our super long game! It's a really good game, plenty of puzzles and different styles of asking the questions that makes it a lot more entertaining than Buzz or other games I've tried along similar lines. It was also a bargain as we got it from a market stall for £6 and it's pretty much brand new!

Today we went to a huge carboot sale at Chelford. I've not been to a carboot sale for years and even then I've only been to an odd one. We did get a couple of bargains, we picked up a huge old chest for £18, a book for £1.50, 3 little Wade ornaments for £5 and best of all a zoo tycoon expansion pack for a mere £1! I love Zoo Tycoon and similar games; rollercoaster tycoon, theme park world, sim city etc. So it's nice to be able to relive my childhood memories.

Today we went to the Fun Day at the Walled Garden. We'd actually forgotten it was on and had just gone for cakes, so it was a nice surprise. They had little stalls with old games like a coconut shy, hoopla, roll a penny and my Grandad was the man who you had to throw wet sponges at! The weather was nice and as usual the cake was good! I would really recommend going, it's free to go in and walk round, they have loads of decent events on all year round and always have super nice cakes on Sundays!

The PED today is of an old Playstation 2 game that I used to love playing called Drakan. It's based in medieval times and you get to play as a girl riding a dragon! Very fun and reminds me of being a lot younger and trying to entertain myself on a weekend at my dads.

The Dungeon Masters

The Dungeon Masters in a documentary about people who play the role play based game ‘Dungeons & Dragons’. Personally, even having watched the documentary, I still don’t really understand how people play the game. To me, it appears that it involves people grouping together to talk out, or sometimes act out, a fantasy type story purely for amusement purposes. Although not something that appeals to me in the slightest, I'm all for whatever floats your boat! The documentary focuses on 3 people, but offers plenty of other insights into aspects of the games’ culture. I admire that these people have the courage to act out such games whilst all remaining in character without making a big joke out of it. I respect their passion and dedication to fully embracing this different aspect into their lives and I can see the creativity enhancing benefits such a thing may offer to individuals. However, I feel that it is too much escapism from the real world for my liking. I think the documentary offers an interesting insight into these gamers lives without making fun of them; it portrays them as average, every day people. It also explores their personal reasons for gaming in a sensitive manner, in particular the female gamer who paints herself in full body paint as a black elf type character. She tells of an abusive husband and a tragic miscarriage; it’s clear to see that this sort of game play offers her an escape from the horrible things from her past. I enjoyed this documentary as it opened my eyes to an alternative culture which is actual of great importance in regards to personal entertainment, social and confidence development of people who struggle to develop in the 'normal' world.
