Equestrians At The Olympics

Today I have been watching the cross country event at the Olympics. It's been really fantastic and we're still only about half way through! The 3 British riders that have already gone have done amazingly and have done the country proud. Zara Phillips and Mary King have been my sporting idols for a long time, but it's been great to see such a lot of top riders doing so well. Sadly there have been a fair few falls, so hopefully horses and riders are all ok. I'm not usually a follower of any other kind of sporting event and I don't really follow equestrian sports as much as I should, but it's an amazing feeling to sit on the edge of your seat, praying to god that your riders get home safely and within the time. I actually feel like I've had the most stressful afternoon and have probably been acting like the boy does when he swears, yells and jumps up and down when the football is on. Ok, maybe not that bad! I've found the event to be really inspiring and I'm so disappointed that I couldn't be there myself. Go Team GB!

Beauty Comes From The Soul

I like tattoos. I find them to be artistic and a visually pleasant way to express yourself, providing it has some sort of meaning to the person wearing it. Although I have heard/seen photos of Rick Genest previous to his appearance in Lady Gaga's music video and his catwalk work for Mugler, after seeing the 'Go Beyond The Cover' advertisment for DermaBlend, I was inspired to learn more about the person behind such life changing tattoos. From several interview video clips you can clearly see that this man is simply a creative personality whom comes across as genuine and intelligent.

I think Rick inspires debate as to what the true definition of beauty is; is it a series of boxes upon a list to be complied with and ticked off, or is it more relaxed, individual and specific to the subject in question? Personally, I feel that we have images of what the media and retailers feel should be considered beautiful thrust in our faces on such a regular basis that we now really have to take time out to stop, think and look before deciding for ourselves what we deem beautiful. But even then, many feel apprehensive about going against the grain to see alternate beauty. I like the fact that what one person finds repulsive, someone else can find beautiful, and resent people who criticise for others for holding opposite opinions to their own.

I'd love to be able to meet him, as I'm sure many people would. However, I wouldn't waste time asking him 'why?' as it is obvious that to him this is what beauty and feeling comfortable in your own skin entails. Instead, I would simply want to admire the artwork that adorns his body, as I am afterall a massive fan of horror films and the macabre myself.

I'll leave you to make your own conclusions about him and his tattoos, but I am inspired.

Things I Love This Week

My Boyfriend - I've really fallen for him now. I can't even begin to understand how he's so perfect. He makes me incredibly happy in a way no one else has done before.

Ideas - Getting back into planning out my film ideas has been really awesome, I feel a lot more inspired and clear about my ideas this year.

Black Lace Dresses - Especially my new one (bought by my lovely boyfriend for me) when its worn with my black patent leather shoes from Gwen Stefani's Harajuku Lovers range.

River Cobbler - Now one of my favourite types of white fish!

"Pain is temporary. Film is forever" - A quote from 'The Director's Cut' which I saw at Dead By Dawn Festival. I really think it sums up my attitude towards film making! Debating getting it tattooed on me somewhere.
